Nephew: "Why is there food all over the floor?"
Me: "Because I got mad and threw it all over. Can you believe that?"
Nephew: "Yeah"
I lost my voice this week and I have to say the most frustrating thing about it is that when I get frustrated I can't yell it out. I should probably try to learn a lesson from this ;)
Yeah, I've done something very similar to this and it has come back to bite me since Tomy now does the same thing when he's frustrated. Phooey! How can I justify being angry at him for being naughty when he's just mimicking my coping mechanism? ARGH! Why can't he just do as I say and not as I do?
ReplyDeleteDon't you love kids' straight forward observations. Tomy's thing lately is to tell me that things are messy - which, of course, they always are. It's pretty cute. I just wish he'd learn to clean up the messy or at least minimize the making of it.
Good luck! Being a Mother/Auntie/Aide/Wife is not for the faint-hearted. :)
I know. My nephew would get mad at the babies, and I knew he was just mimicking what he saw when Craig and I got frustrated with them. Makes me feel bad that I set such a bad example. I told him that even though we do it that it's not right and we need to find a better way to act when we're angry :) I'm sure that will happen someday.
ReplyDeleteMy friend's son just came over and in a very sweet voice asked, "Why didn't you clean your house?" Made me laugh. Got to love Laundry day. It's funny how when I stay home the house actually gets messier.
LOL! Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better, right?!
